Herbert Rehbein
Hi,
I think this forum needs some heating up. There hasn't been much happening on the English and German parts for some time!
I happened to play the Taragon Herbert Rehbein issue tonight, and was (as always) amazed at how beautifully everything has been arranged. Some would say that it is all very "super-sweet", but it has always been quite clear that Bert's right-hand buddy was an incurable romantic. [This can be witnessed also on the Rehbein arrangements on the Johnny Mathis Kaempfert LP recorded at Rahlstedt Studio, Hamburg in about 1970 but released as a double issue (the other featuring music by Bacharach) on CBS].
The original American Decca Rehbein LPs from 1964, 1967 and 1969 were called "Music to Soothe that Tiger", "Love after Midnight", and "And so to Bed", respectively.
My question: what were the original European titles of the same LPs? I know that one was called "Bert Kaempfert Presents... Love" in the Polydor "Stereo Musicale" series, but I don't even know which one that was (although I suspect that it was the last one from 1969).
Thank you to Taragon for this triple-LP release on 2 CDs. I love it, especially the second CD. Rehbein's clever arrangement of "Malaysian Melody" with a million pizzicato strings and an odd beat is just totally amazing!
